I Want to be Like Cindy Gallop

Do you know who Cindy Gallop is?!

If you happen to not, don’t worry! I didn’t either.  I met Cindy while she was speaking at a panel on Sex Tech in New York and she blew me away.   When I saw her speak, I had just started The Female Condition and had no idea what I was doing. I just wanted to help women and I knew through high quality, honest, engaging content, I could. So I did.   Looking back, I can say that attending this panel pushed me head first into a path that I was trying to dip my toe in and casually slide into. After this event, I knew my involvement in women's sexual health wouldn't be casual, it would be an all-consuming, deeply disruptive part of my life's work.

Who is Cindy Gallop

She is most well known for her 2009 TedTalk and launch of MakeLoveNotPorn

The extraordinary global response led to MakeLoveNotPorn.tv – a crowdsourced, user-generated video-sharing platform that showcases #realworldsex in all its funny, messy, beautiful, wonderful, ridiculous humanness, with a revenue-sharing business model for our contributors, or MakeLoveNotPornstars. We’re making it easier to talk about sex by building a whole new category online – social sex – to normalize sex; promote good sexual values and behavior; help drive better relationships and better lives;and ultimately make the world a better and happier place.

Another notable fact about her, the chairman of Saatchi and Saatchi, Kevin Roberts, resigned after publicly discrediting her and denying sexism exists in the advertising industry.

What I Admire About Cindy Gallop

She refuses to sit down and shut up...   She champions diversity.   She is actively breaking our silence on sex and creating a culture where real sex is sexy again.

Most importantly, she has a plan

Seeing her speak gave me so much to think about that when it came time to speak to her, I was at a loss for words. And this doesn't happen to me often.

While I was at a loss for what to say and what to do - feeling desperate to help, to do more, get more involved, but utterly overwhelmed by the amount of information I just took in. Cindy was there, ready to talk to me and other women about what we can do next. How we can do more.   The other undeniably impressive part about Cindy is her ability to advertise an idea. It is one thing to have great ideas, another to have a plan to execute great ideas; but, to sell an idea to others and create a movement, that is real progress.

Female Leadership

I haven't seen many leaders like Cindy.   For me, watching her just screams affirmation of why we so desperately need female leaders. Why those of us who have an aptitude and desire to lead need to step up and speak, and innovate, and put our intelligence, drive, and networks towards bettering the world for women.
